Biography

Desert Rose have known eachother since mellanstadiet (Junior High) but never worked together as a group until now.

Robin Seyfi and Kareem have two very different backgrounds,
Robin, growing up listening to a lot of roots reggae, used his guitar as his main instrument.
Writing songs and had a few bands but never anything solid.

In 1999 he joined the Uppsala afro-choir where he polished his singing skills to where he is now. Singing in the choir gave him the chance to perform in various places, Europe’s largest reggae festival, the Uppsala reggae festival being one, and even record an album combined with a small tour in Germany.

While Robin was singing on stage Kareem did pretty much the opposite, he spent his time in the studio.
He and two friends formed a rap group in the beginning of högstadiet (high school). They worked with their music in the schools youth recreation centre which had a small studio for the kids to use if they were interested.

Kareem and his group stayed together for three years, performing live, mainly on school events, and putting down tracks in that small studio.
When his two friends developed other interests besides music and decided to quit he joined forces with another friend of his, Michael Mikaifer, and formed the group D Souljahs. The two came to release 3 full length EP´s locally, performing as pre-acts to some of Sweden’s biggest rappers, but never made it.

Five years later when Mike also decided to end everything with music, Kareem, not knowing himself whether to keep on or call it quits, got talked in to moving from Uppsala and to study sound engineering in Stockholm. Now he began to master not just the mic but everything behind it as well, making it much easier to work on his own.
In January 2008 after a few collaborations, Robin and Kareem got the idea of putting together their work and formed the group Desert Rose.
With a fusion of hiphop, reggae and music from all corners of the world, the sound of Desert Rose will flourish!
